The range of hues that can be considered pink is wide and includes some corals as well as magenta. Here is Wikipedia's Shades of Pink link.

Oh the rabbit's ears definitely qualified as a soft pink shade to me. Beautiful pictures as always Diane..
ReplyDeleteJust when I think your photos could not possibly get more beautiful there is today's post. Amazing colors and hues.. just wonderful. Judy
ReplyDeleteYour posts always put me "in the pink"! Nice collection of photo goodies! :) HCM!
ReplyDeleteYour summer shot of Arizona is gorgeous. I like the pincushion cactus. I like it so much, I'll try to grow it from seed (which is actually a lot of fun.) Diane, do you ever grow any cacti from seed? Is the Fairy duster the desert Calliandra?
ReplyDeleteProspero, I have never tried growing a cactus from seed, but that would be fun. The Fairy duster is Calliandra eriophylla. I don't know what it means, but I think the scientific name sounds just as pretty as the common name.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and happy post, Who would ever put cactus and pink together?! Diane would, that's who and we all love it.
ReplyDeleteHCM!

ReplyDeleteI knew I liked pink for a reason.
ReplyDeleteGreat pink shots. :D
How I thrill at a cactus in bloom!! Woo-hoo!
ReplyDeleteArizona is Pretty in pink! Your photos reminded me of my grandmother's cacti. She had several varieties in her home and she even grew some outside in her flower garden! Another enjoyable post! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea...who would have thought there would be so much pink in the cactus world! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and post, I wish I could live there.
ReplyDeleteHappy CM!

The multi-colored flowers of the pincushion are spectacular. Never seen that. All great captures. And yes, I think the rabbit's ears are pink inside.
ReplyDeleteI love pink. Amazing how many pink flowers bloom on cactus :)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful pink blossom.
ReplyDeleteilobe the super cute rabbit too:)
The white edging on the pink pincushion cactus flowers is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe chainfruit cholla looks interesting - very exuberant!
Awesome! I love them all- my chainfruit cholla is in bloom too, and I just love those little pink flowers. So do the hummingbirds.
ReplyDeleteDiane, you can try this link for info on growing Plumeria (Frangipani) in your area.

Myth of the Cave is an allegory in Plato's The Republic.
I much prefer Plumeria to Oleander (a very unruly plant). Also, there is the scent of Plumeria ... it's just intoxicating. You can easily buy cuttings of Plumeria (a branch you just stick in the ground) on the internet. This way you know exactly what color and shape flower you are getting. The range is stunning. These are some of the most beautiful flowers around. Or, you can grow a plant from seed. This is what I've done. The benefit is a stronger plant than what you'd get from a cutting, and the chance that you create a new named variety. I find growing plants from seed very exciting.
Lovely collection of snaps around pink. Had never seen pink color in cactus before. The sky shot is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually associate pink with the desert, but you really brought the two home together.
ReplyDeleteLove the sunset shot. Who could resist all the great color with the cactus in shadow. :)
Gorgeous photos of the cactus flowers. I have always enjoyed driving through the desert and catching glimpses of vibrant color.
ReplyDeletepink is my favorite color, and cactus always fascinates me, i so love this post (or these pictures), the pink blooms from the succulents are really amazing.
