Cactus Monday - Pink

Each of these pictures features something pink. And, since this is for Cactus Monday, you will find some sort of succulents as well.

Do the rabbit's ears qualify for something pink?

The range of hues that can be considered pink is wide and includes some corals as well as magenta. Here is Wikipedia's Shades of Pink link.

    Your summer shot of Arizona is gorgeous. I like the pincushion cactus. I like it so much, I'll try to grow it from seed (which is actually a lot of fun.) Diane, do you ever grow any cacti from seed? Is the Fairy duster the desert Calliandra?

    Prospero, I have never tried growing a cactus from seed, but that would be fun. The Fairy duster is Calliandra eriophylla. I don't know what it means, but I think the scientific name sounds just as pretty as the common name.

    Arizona is Pretty in pink! Your photos reminded me of my grandmother's cacti. She had several varieties in her home and she even grew some outside in her flower garden! Another enjoyable post! Thanks!

    The multi-colored flowers of the pincushion are spectacular. Never seen that. All great captures. And yes, I think the rabbit's ears are pink inside.

    The white edging on the pink pincushion cactus flowers is stunning!

    The chainfruit cholla looks interesting - very exuberant!

    I much prefer Plumeria to Oleander (a very unruly plant). Also, there is the scent of Plumeria ... it's just intoxicating. You can easily buy cuttings of Plumeria (a branch you just stick in the ground) on the internet. This way you know exactly what color and shape flower you are getting. The range is stunning. These are some of the most beautiful flowers around. Or, you can grow a plant from seed. This is what I've done. The benefit is a stronger plant than what you'd get from a cutting, and the chance that you create a new named variety. I find growing plants from seed very exciting.

    I don't usually associate pink with the desert, but you really brought the two home together.

    pink is my favorite color, and cactus always fascinates me, i so love this post (or these pictures), the pink blooms from the succulents are really amazing.
