Greetings from Tucson, Arizona! Here is Arizona's state bird (Cactus Wren) on the state flower (Saguaro Blossom). Birds are active at Sabino Canyon this month. Some of the saguaros are blooming and the pollen and nectar are attracting many bird species, especially White-winged Doves.

Great shots Diane. I love the dove with head buried. I heard cactus wrens throughout the canyon hike but rarely saw them and gone too quick for a photo.

What a joy it must have been to see this!!!

Those cactus blossoms must be yummy the way the birds go after them. Your shots are great.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird photos, I especially like the top one of the Cactus Wren! I sure would like to see the Saguaros in bloom some day, may have to plan on staying longer on my next trip.
ReplyDeleteI imagine they must be extra careful on those sharp cactus needles but that's probably silly.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos, Diane! The birds look like acrobats on those spines. The sepia tone looks great too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photographs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot of the wren on the Saguaro!!! Excellent photography!!!

what lovely photos, all of them are just amazing, the first and the last are my favorites. State bird on a state flower, wow!
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, I enjoyed catching up on your blog posts. LOVE the Mourning Dove pictures and of course the Goldfinches. I also enjoyed seeing all of the different looking cactus. The latest post on the state bird and state flower is GREAT also. I have never seen one of our state birds, the Mockingbird. I saw one in TEXAS but not in Tennessee!!!! ha
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
These images are magical. Seeing these giant cactus in bloom is amazing enough, but then to see the birds perched on them busy doing what birds do, just brings them alive.
ReplyDeleteThat is another amazing shot.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Wonder how those birds "walk" around those stickers on the cactus? Think they're saying - ouch, ouch, ouch.....?
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your lovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing.
I absolutely love the first photo. Like all the birds on the cactus. The white winged dove is cool.
