Skywatch Friday - Clouds

These are some of my favorite cloud images from the past week. As we were getting ready for a late afternoon walk, Chris noticed these clouds pointing to our rooftop.
It's fun when clouds appear to be relating to a scene. The clouds in the image below seemed to be echoing the mountain and botanical shapes of the desert.
Chris said it looked as if the clouds were showing sounds coming from the bird atop the cactus, reminiscent of Snoopy's friend, Woodstock speaking.
This one looked to me like an owl flying out of Sabino Canyon.
And at dusk, walking towards the visitor center, I imagined a giant crab reaching out from the valley below.

Are these flowers of the Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja) in the second picture?

I think that crab escaped from Harrahs and is heading south to Tucson :) (just kidding) Friday and Saturday are their seafood buffets nights.

You should be featured on the next Skywatch round page! The bird photo is stunning! And the first one looks like a tornado.

Thats totally cool, I could see everything that you were talking about in the photos. I love the little bird up on the cactus. The clouds spoke for him.

Hi Diane,

I love the photo of the Ocotillo. They were just hitting their stride when I had to head north a few weeks ago although some of the lower elevation ones were in bloom. Beautiful plants.
